BUFFALO – For 60 minutes against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Sabres captain Jack Eichel blended in, generating little offense against one of the NHL’s stingiest teams.

BUFFALO – For about the opening nine minutes of Thursday’s 3-1 loss to Montreal Canadiens, it appeared some desperation had finally kicked in and the Sabres grasped they’re playing for their season right now.

BUFFALO – Marco Scandella saw the end here coming. Not only did the Sabres have a surfeit of defensemen, he had an expiring contract.

BUFFALO – On Monday, goalie Jonas Johansson represented the Rochester Americans at the AHL All-Star Classic, an honor he received for his breakout season.

BUFFALO – Having lost Linus Ullmark to a lower-body injury, the Sabres recalled goalie Jonas Johansson from the Rochester Americans this morning.

Johansson, 24, has enjoyed a breakout season, compiling a 13-3-3 record with a 2.19 goals-against average, a .925 save percentage and two shutouts in 20 games. The Swede represented the Amerks in Monday’s AHL All-Star Classic in Ontario, Calif.

BUFFALO – In the waning minutes of Tuesday’s 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, Sabres center Curtis Lazar couldn’t get off the ice.
