Prospects Dylan Cozens, Jack Quinn could practice with Sabres on Friday

Coach Ralph Krueger said this afternoon that prospects Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn, both of whom represented Team Canada at the World Junior Championship, could join the Sabres’ second practice group Friday.

Cozens and Quinn have been quarantining in a hotel since arriving from Edmonton following Canada’s loss 2-0 loss to Team USA in Tuesday’s gold medal game. They took a private plane to Buffalo, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

After months of anticipation and a five-day delay, Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel on Wednesday finally practiced beside Taylor Hall, his new left winger.

Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel and goalie Linus Ullmark are practicing for the first time this season today at KeyBank Center.

An upper-body injury sidelined Eichel for the first four sessions of training camp. Ullmark, meanwhile, had to quarantine because an immigration issue following his arrival from Sweden.

In the second period of Monday’s Buffalo Sabres scrimmage, Zemgus Girgensons eyed up Steven Fogarty as he carried the puck and tried to hit him inside the blue line.

But Fogarty skated around Girgensons, forcing the Latvian to make a last-second adjustment. Girgensons’ legs split awkwardly as he attempted to find Fogarty and he fell to the KeyBank Center ice. Girgensons left the scrimmage and did not return.

Sabres prospect Ryan Johnson named to Team USA’s World Junior squad

Buffalo Sabres defense prospect Ryan Johnson has earned a spot on Team USA’s 25-man roster for the upcoming World Junior Championship.

USA Hockey announced the roster today.

Sabres sign Jack Quinn to three-year, entry-level contract

The Buffalo Sabres have signed first-round pick Jack Quinn to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced today.

Quinn, the eighth overall pick last month, scored 52 goals and 89 points in 62 games last season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s.

The winger is one of 46 players Team Canada has invited to its 2021 World Junior Championship training camp, which begins Nov. 26 in Red Deer, Alberta.
