2018-19 Sabres schedule features early home stand, long January break

DALLAS – A season-opening four-game home stand, a 10-day January break and a Feb. 23 visit from superstar Alex Ovechkin and the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals are among the highlights of the 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres schedule the NHL released Thursday.

Sabres to open training camp Sept. 14

BUFFALO – The Sabres will open their main training camp Sept. 14, when veterans report for physicals and testing, then hold their first on-ice sessions a day later, the team announced today.

Sabres to open training camp Sept. 23 at HarborCenter

BUFFALO – The Sabres will open training camp Sept. 23 in a different venue than past years, the team announced this afternoon.

HarborCenter, the Sabres’ two-rink practice facility they recently used for development camp, will host the early sessions of training camp to start the 2016-17 season. The sessions are free and open to the public. Practices will move to the First Niagara Center once the exhibition schedule starts.

Sabres sign Erik Burgdoerfer; Amerks ink goalie John Muse

BUFFALO – The Sabres added defense depth for the AHL today, signing Erik Burgdoerfer to a one-year, two-way contract.

He will most likely start next season with the Rochester Americans.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Burgdoerfer, 27, spent last season with the AHL Hershey Bears, compiling six goals, 20 points and 59 penalty minutes in 74 games.

BUFFALO – Five of the Sabres’ seven preseason games this year are away from the First Niagara Center, including four neutral-site contests, the team announced this morning.
