BUFFALO – Sabres center Cody Hodgson (lower body) will this take this afternoon’s pregame warm-up and decide if he can play against the Calgary Flames.
“He’s getting real close,” interim Sabres coach Ted Nolan said this afternoon inside the First Niagara Center.
Update: Hodgson is out again. Luke Adam is a healthy scratch up front.
If Hodgson misses his second game, Matt Ellis will play. The Sabres recalled the 32-year-old after he scored the shootout winner in Friday’s 5-4 outdoor win against Lake Erie.
Ellis, who also had a goal and an assist Friday, will take the warm-up. He said it feels like his first recall all over again.
“It always feels like that,” said Ellis, who was waived in February. “A chance to put that jersey on again, it’s something special, it’s something I’ve always been proud of. To be able to come back here and do that again, it definitely drums up those same feelings.”
The Sabres will likely make one move on defense, inserting Brayden McNabb for Mark Pysyk, Nolan said. Goalie Jhonas Enroth will start.
