Sabres recall Mark Pysyk and Tim Schaller from Amerks

BUFFALO – With injuries and illnesses ravaging the Sabres, the team has recalled defenseman Mark Pysyk and center Tim Schaller from Rochester for tonight’s game against the Boston Bruins.

Defenseman Tyler Myers is questionable after suffering a lower-body injury in Saturday’s 5-1 loss to Colorado. Meanwhile, wingers Patrick Kaleta and Matt Moulson are both sick. Kaleta will definitely miss tonight’s game, Sabres coach Ted Nolan said.

Pysyk has one goal and 10 points in 27 games with the Americans this season. The 2010 first-round pick has played 63 NHL games, the last coming April 13. He made 44 NHL appearances last season but spent most of the second half in the AHL.

The 22-year-old was hurt early during his first preseason appearance in September and missed most of training camp.

Schaller has seven goals and 17 points with the Amerks this season. The undrafted 24-year-old went scoreless in his first two NHL games earlier this season.

The Sabres have place center Torrey Mitchell and defenseman Tyson Strachan on injured reserve to create roster space.
