BUFFALO – Sabres goalie Robin Lehner, sidelined with a sore hip for Thursday’s 4-3 win against the New York Rangers, will start Saturday afternoon’s game against the Boston Bruins, coach Dan Bylsma said.
The Sabres returned goalie Linus Ullmark to the Rochester Americans earlier today.
Lehner was hurt early in Tuesday’s 5-4 win in Ottawa. Backup Anders Nilsson subbed for him Thursday.
In other news, defenseman Josh Gorges is questionable for the Bruins after blocking a shot Thursday. Gorges tested the injury early in today’s practice inside HarborCenter but left the ice.
Update: In a surprising move, the Sabres have recalled top defense prospect Brendan Guhle, 19, from the Western Hockey League’s Prince George Cougars on an emergency basis. The 2015 second-round pick almost made the Sabres out of training camp.
Guhle should make his NHL debut against the Bruins.
Gorges had an X-ray after the game and will have more testing today.
“At this point, we kind of just wait and see the results of the next test,” Bylsma said.
The Sabres must recall a defenseman if Gorges can’t play. Defensemen Zach Bogosian (knee) and Dmitry Kulikov (back) are also hurt.
