Sabres transactions: Buffalo sends two players to Rochester Amerks

The Buffalo Sabres on Sunday sent rookie forward Tyson Kozak and goalie Felix Sandstrom back to the Rochester Americans.

Neither played in Saturday’s 6-4 road loss to the Nashville Predators, the Sabres’ final game before beginning a two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. They don’t play again until Feb. 22.

Kozak, 22, played in eight games during his recall before battling the flu and leaving the lineup. Overall, he has compiled one goal and one point in 11 appearances with the Sabres this season and six goals and 12 points in 24 games with the Amerks.

Meanwhile, Sandstrom, 28, did not play after the Sabres recalled him Tuesday during the AHL All-Star break to back up James Reimer when Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen suffered a lower-body injury.

The Swede left his vacation in Florida and made it KeyBank Center as the Sabres began their 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sandstrom has won six straight games with the Amerks. Overall, he has compiled a 9-4-1 record with a 2.89 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage in 14 games this season.

The Amerks play a road game Tuesday against the Cleveland Monsters.
