Ex-Sabres prospect Linus Weissbach signs contract in native Sweden

Winger Linus Weissbach has returned home to play in the Swedish Hockey League.

The former Buffalo Sabres prospect on Saturday signed a two-year contract with Frolunda HC.

Weissbach, 26, spent the last three seasons with the Rochester Americans, scoring 52 goals and 117 points in 192 AHL games. He added four goals and 11 points in 18 contests in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Swede, who became an unrestricted free agent July 1, enjoyed his best season in 2022-23, scoring 20 goals and 47 points in 69 outings.

The Sabres drafted Weissbach in seventh round in 2017, 192nd overall. He played four seasons at Wisconsin before signing his entry-level contract in 2021.

Former Sabres prospects Filip Cederqvist and Arttu Ruotsalainen are also on Frolunda’s roster.
