Tonight’s Buffalo Sabres road game against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum has been postponed because of COVID-19 protocols, the NHL announced this morning.
The Sabres switched their travel plans Monday as Winter Storm Orlena battered the New York City area, moving their flight to this morning.
That changed how the NHL could complete the Sabres’ contact tracing and testing.
“Due to weather conditions yesterday, the Sabres altered their travel schedule so as to fly today to New York,” the NHL said in a statement. “So that required COVID contact tracing and testing protocols can be completed appropriately, the decision has been made to re-schedule the game for a future date.”
The Sabres played games against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday and Sunday. Four Devils players were added to the COVID-19 protocol list Monday, forcing the NHL to postpone three of their games this week. They have 10 players on the COVID list.
No makeup date has been announced for tonight’s game. The Sabres are also scheduled to play the Islanders on Thursday in New York.
