The Buffalo Sabres this afternoon sent defenseman Casey Fitzgerald back to the Rochester Americans.
The Sabres don’t have a game scheduled until next Monday, so Fitzgerald, 24, is available to the Amerks for Wednesday’s home game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Fitzgerald made his NHL debut Friday in Pittsburgh, registering an assist and fighting Sam Lafferty in the Sabres’ 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins.
The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Fitzgerald has compiled four goals, seven points and 37 penalty minutes in 21 contests with the Amerks this season.
