BUFFALO – The Sabres on Monday recalled winger Isak Rosen, whose 23 goals rank second in the AHL this season, from the Rochester Americans.
To create a roster spot, the Sabres placed center Tyson Kozak on injured reserve. Coach Lindy Ruff said on Saturday that Kozak was sick. He missed Sunday afternoon’s 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils.
Kozak took a puck off the hand area in Friday’s 4-3 victory against the Nashville Predators but stayed in the game.
Rosen, 21, has enjoyed a breakout offensive season in Rochester, setting a new career-high goal total in just 40 games. The Swede’s 39 points this season lead the team and are the AHL’s fifth-highest total.
He has been scorching, recording seven goals and eight points in his last four games. He has three two-goal outings during that stretch.
The Sabres recalled the prospect for one game earlier this season. He has registered zero points in eight career NHL games.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Rosen has compiled 57 goals and 126 points in 173 career AHL games.
The Sabres drafted him 14th overall in 2021.
He will miss Monday’s AHL All-Star Classic because of his recall.
The Sabres, who carry a three-game winning streak into tonight’s contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets at KeyBank Center, canceled Monday’s practice.
They haven’t won four consecutive contests since a five-game streak from Jan. 19 to 26, 2023.
Awesome.
Now, start making some trades Adams.
Get rid of these soft players: Power, Jokiharju, Cozens, Quinn.
Getting rid of these ^^^^ and recall Ostlund, Helenius, Novikov, and Johnson.
Can you please explain to me. What has happened to Dylan Cozens game this year? He hasn’t been the same since he fought Garnet Hathaway last year.
Cozens has been in a steady decline for 2 years. He got the big contract and forgot to work. His effort is sporatic. His shot looks worse. I really don’t know. I just know it’s time for Cozens to go. He’s not worth his contract, and we have Ostlund and Helenius in Rochester ready to take his spot. We need the savings $$$$
to get some grit & muscle on this team.
Have you seen Johnson’s play here in Rochester? He’s our 4th best defenseman, at best. Ostlund isn’t ready either, nor is Helenius. Take Murray… some size and goal scoring ability, especially on the PP. Better off with Metsa on D.
