Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin and goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will be representing their respective countries at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.
The NHL and NHLPA on Wednesday announced Dahlin as one Team Sweden’s seven defensemen and Luukkonen as one of Team Finland’s three netminders.
Sabres center Tage Thompson (USA), winger Alex Tuch (USA) and defenseman Henri Jokiharju (Finland), all of whom were believed to be in the mix to represent their respective countries, did not earn roster spots.
Five former Sabres – winger Joel Armia (Finland), center Jack Eichel (USA), winger Sam Reinhart (Team Canada), defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (Finland) and goalie Linus Ullmark (Sweden) – will be participating in the tournament.
The 4 Nations Face-Off runs from Feb. 12 to 20 in Boston and Montreal.
Whzt a joke that neither Tuch or Thompson didnt make the team. Both have way better numbers than Kreider or Nelson.
Im more pissed about Tuch not making the team. He has 23 pts and a +/- of 11.
Tuch is also one of the best 2-way players in the NHL both on the PP and on the PK. He also has 3 shorthanded goals.
