BUFFALO – The Sabres on Wednesday recalled winger Brandon Biro from the Rochester Americans and sent rookie winger Jiri Kulich back to the AHL club.
Kulich’s assignment means winger Jordan Greenway, who has missed the last three games because of personal reasons, will likely return for tonight’s road contest against the St. Louis Blues.
Biro, Kulich and Greenway all practiced Wednesday.
“He’s a legitimate option for St. Louis,” Sabres coach Don Granato said of Greenway following the session in KeyBank Center. “He looked very good. I’ve talked to him each and every day, and I think he’s comfortable and I think I am, but he’s had one practice today.”
Kulich, 19, made his NHL debut in Saturday’s 7-2 road loss to the New Jersey Devils before the Sabres scratched him Monday. The Czech prospect has been one of the AHL’s hottest scorers this season, recording 11 goals in the first 16 games.
Biro, 25, scored two goals in his NHL season debut Nov. 1 before suffering an upper-body injury in his second appearance and returning to Rochester. He has scored six goals and 12 points in 10 games with the Amerks this season.
