Sabres give up rights to three unsigned draft picks

Goalie Ryerson Leenders, a prospect the Buffalo Sabres selected in the seventh round in 2024, can re-enter the NHL Draft later this month, according to Puckpedia.com.

As an unsigned 2024 draftee who played in the Canadian Hockey League through age 20 and has no college commitment, Leenders, the 219th overall pick, became eligible for the 2026 draft on Monday, according to Puckpedia.com.

Leenders has spent the past four seasons playing junior in the Ontario Hockey League. He compiled a 27-5-6 record with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 39 games with the Brantford Bulldogs in 2025-26.

He enjoyed a strong postseason, registering a 10-2-2 mark with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 14 outings.

Meanwhile, two unsigned Swedish forward prospects the Sabres drafted in 2022 – Gustav Karlsson (sixth round, 187th overall) and Joel Ratkovic-Berndtsson (seventh round, 202nd overall) – have become free agents, according to Puckpedia.com.
