Sabres assign prospect Noah Ostlund to Rochester Amerks

BUFFALO – The Sabres on Wednesday assigned forward prospect Noah Ostlund, the 16th overall pick in 2022, to the Rochester Americans.

Ostlund, 20, recently completed his first season in the Swedish Hockey League, scoring 12 goals and 23 points in 38 games for Vaxjo HC.

The 5-foot-11, 163-pound Ostlund joined the Amerks last season during the Calder Cup Playoffs but did not play.

The Amerks have two games left before the postseason.

Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin said he plans to play for Team Sweden at the upcoming World Championship.

“Team Sweden got a new coach now and a new system and stuff like that,” he said Wednesday as the Sabres held end-of-season meetings in KeyBank Center. “So, for me, it’s very big to get to know all the staff, to play their game and to be able to learn what it’s all about. So, yeah, this tournament’s going to be a big one for me.”

Meanwhile, Sabres defenseman Henri Jokiharju, who’s set to become a restricted free agent, won’t represent Team Finland because he needs a new contract.

“That could be something a little too dangerous,” he said of participating in the tournament.
