BUFFALO – In his first session since Friday’s trade, veteran Luke Schenn this morning skated alongside Logan Stanley, a sign he will likely make his Sabres debut tonight against the Washington Capitals.
Before the Winnipeg Jets dealt the defensemen here together, Schenn and Stanley spent much of this season as partners, so it’s only natural to reunite them.
Still, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff, who has entered playoff mode early, wouldn’t confirm Schenn’s presence in tonight’s lineup at KeyBank Center.
“He may,” said Ruff, whose Sabres have an eight-game winning streak.
If Schenn, 36, plays, the Sabres will likely scratch defenseman Michael Kesselring. Stanley made his debut in Tuesday’s 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.
Meanwhile, Ruff said winger Alex Tuch, who missed the final 7:24 against the Sharks with a lower-body injury, is questionable.
“We don’t know if he’s going to play tonight yet,” he said.
Tuch went through regular drills this morning.
If he can’t play, the Sabres could utilize winger Tanner Pearson, who was acquired Friday in a separate deal with Winnipeg.
Pearson, 33, skated as an extra during his first on-ice session.
Schenn and Pearson both needed their visas completed before practicing or playing.
