Sabres’ Sam Carrick could return from arm injury in second round; Rasmus Dahlin finalist for Masterton

BUFFALO – Wait a second, center Sam Carrick might be available to Sabres in their second-round series against the Montreal Canadiens after all.

Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said today that Carrick, who has missed the last 13 games after injuring his left arm in a fight March 31, plans to see team doctors today. If everything goes well, he could join his teammates for Tuesday’s practice.

Sabres’ Zach Benson becoming one of NHL’s foremost agitators: ‘That insect that won’t go away’

BUFFALO – Sabres coach Lindy Ruff likens diminutive winger Zach Benson’s ability to get under opponents’ skin to an annoying bug that keeps flying around you.

“He’s like that insect that won’t go away,” Ruff said following Sunday’s practice in KeyBank Center. “You keep swatting at it, but you just can’t quite get it, and it keeps landing on you.”

Sabres to face Canadiens in second round of playoffs

The Buffalo Sabres finally have an opponent for their second-round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Montreal Canadiens advanced tonight to face the Sabres by beating the Lightning 2-1 in Tampa Bay in Game 7.

NHL Player Safety offers Bruins’ Charlie McAvoy in-person hearing after slash on Sabres’ Zach Benson

BOSTON – The NHL Department of Player Safety has offered Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy an in-person hearing after he swung his stick at Buffalo winger Zach Benson late in Friday’s season-ending 4-1 loss to the Sabres.

No time and date have been announced. An in-person hearing gives the NHL the option of suspending McAvoy six game or more.

Tenacious effort by Josh Doan creates Zach Benson’s goal to seal Game 6 and series for Sabres

BOSTON – Almost six minutes into Friday’s third period, with the Sabres clinging to a 2-1 lead and trying to close out their first-round series, winger Josh Doan and two Bruins took off down the ice when the puck slid out of the Buffalo zone.
