Sabres assign forward prospect Anton Wahlberg to Rochester, make other roster move

The Buffalo Sabres this morning assigned forward prospect Anton Wahlberg, who spent all season playing for Malmo in the Swedish Hockey League, to the Rochester Americans.

The Amerks, who are fighting for a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs, have 11 games left, starting with this afternoon’s home contest against the Utica Comets.

Wahlberg, 18, compiled five goals and 10 points in 42 games with Malmo this season. He also recorded one goal and three points in seven contests as Team Sweden earned a silver medal at the World Junior Championship.

The Sabres drafted the 6-foot-3, 191-pound Wahlberg in the second round in 2023, 39th overall. He signed his entry-level NHL contract last year.

In other news, the Sabres this morning reassigned forward prospect Olivier Nadeau from the AHL to the Jacksonville Icemen, their ECHL affiliate.

Nadeau, 21, has scored one goal in five games with the Amerks this season and nine goals and 19 points in 32 contests with the Icemen.

The Sabres drafted Nadeau in the fourth round in 2021, 97th overall.
