The Buffalo Sabres on Sunday avoided salary arbitration with defenseman Conor Timmins, signing him to a two-year, $4.4 million contract.
Timmins, 26, filed for arbitration July 5. He had a hearing scheduled for Saturday, according to Puckpedia.com.
Goalie Devon Levi is the Sabres’ only unsigned restricted free agent.
After signing Timmins, the Sabres have $5.2 million of projected salary cap space with 23 active players, according to Puckpedia.
The Sabres acquired Timmins on June 28 in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He registered three goals and 15 points in 68 total games last season with Pittsburgh and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Timmins has compiled six goals and 46 points in 159 career NHL games. He began his career with the Colorado Avalanche before joining the Arizona Coyotes.
