Sabres recall two players from Amerks, send rookie to Rochester

BUFFALO – The Sabres this afternoon recalled forward Tyson Jost and defenseman Kale Clague from the Rochester Americans and sent rookie defenseman Ryan Johnson to the AHL club.

The Sabres traded captain Kyle Okposo to the Florida Panthers and defenseman Erik Johnson to the Philadelphia Flyers before this afternoon’s deadline, so they needed some reinforcements.

Jost, 25, compiled four goals and 14 points in 25 games with the Amerks during his longest stint in the AHL in his career. He had played just 13 games in the minors before the Sabres sent him down.

He registered two goals and two points in 29 games with the Sabres earlier this season.

Clague, 25, has scored three goals and 23 points in 43 games with the Amerks this year. He recorded one assist during his two-game recall to Buffalo.

Meanwhile, Ryan Johnson, 22, has compiled seven assists in 41 games with the Sabres this season. He started the campaign in Rochester, recording four assists in nine games.

  1. Why in the world would you send Johnson down and wreck his confidence ? Makes no sense.

    1. Wreck his confidence? Does this apply to Levi also? It could be to give him steady playing time. The Sabres still have Dahlin Byram Power Clifton Joker on the NHL roster.
