Sabres’ Justin Danforth to be sidelined ‘significant amount of time’ with injury

BUFFALO – Sabres winger Justin Danforth will be sidelined “a significant amount of time” with a lower-body injury, coach Lindy Ruff said.

Ruff said Danforth, who did not return to Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Ottawa Senators after blocking a shot early in the second period, will miss more than a month.

With Danforth out, winger Josh Dunne will likely move into the lineup for Saturday  afternoon’s home game against the Florida Panthers.

In other injury news, Ruff said he expects defenseman Mattias Samuelsson, who has missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury, to return Saturday.

“Had a good practice, looks like he’s ready to go,” Ruff said following Friday’s practice in KeyBank Center.

Meanwhile, Ruff said defenseman Michael Kesselring, who has been sidelined since aggravating an injury late in the preseason, had a rehab skate Friday morning.

“Not ready to join us yet, but he’s in the beginning stages,” he said.
