The Buffalo Sabres won’t sign three draft picks, including defenseman Mats Lindgren, a fourth-round selection in 2022, to contracts before Saturday’s deadline, the team confirmed.
The Buffalo News first reported the Sabres will relinquish the rights to Lindgren, defenseman Albert Lyckasen and center Jakub Konecny. The Sabres selected Lyckasen and Konecny in the seventh round in 2020, general manager Kevyn Adams’ first draft.
The Sabres had Lindgren’s rights for two years because he played junior in the Canadian Hockey League and the rights to Lyckasen and Konecny for four years because they’re European prospects.
Lindgren, 19, compiled seven goals and 41 points in 63 games for the Western Hockey League’s Red Deer Rebels in 2023-24.
Why Joe Brady placing the #Bills offense in Josh Allen’s hands is a good thing, if their receiver situation is overblown and a bunch more from OTAs with @BillHoppeNHL and I.https://t.co/MvpcWOWy52
