The Buffalo Sabres on Friday signed goalie prospect Scott Ratzlaff, who recently looked impressive during NHL preseason action, to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The 6-foot-1, 177-pound Ratzlaff did not allow a goal in 51 minutes of exhibition play over two appearances with the Sabres.
Ratzlaff, 19, has carried that strong netminding into his junior season, posting a 3-0-0 record with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in three games with the Western Hockey League’s Seattle Thunderbirds.
He has compiled a 67-36-4 mark with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage in 114 career games with Seattle. He won a WHL championship in 2023, when he tied for the league lead with five shutouts and ranked second with a 2.15 goals-against average.
The Sabres drafted Ratzlaff in the fifth round, 141st overall, in 2023.
