Sabres scratch Rasmus Dahlin following return from injury

Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin’s absence from Saturday’s 3-1 loss to the Bruins was planned, coach Lindy Ruff told reporters in Boston following Buffalo’s 13th consecutive defeat.

Dahlin returned Friday after missing seven games because of back spasms, skating 27 minutes, 33 seconds in the Sabres’ 6-3 home loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While the Sabres leaned on their top defenseman heavily – he played his second-highest total this season – they apparently want to ease him back into the lineup.

With Dahlin, 24, scratched Saturday, defenseman Owen Power skated a team-high 24 minutes, 15 seconds.

The Sabres made one other change on defense, scratching Dennis Gilbert. Jacob Bryson and Henri Jokiharju moved into the lineup.

Buffalo plays its last game before the Christmas break on the road Monday against the New York Islanders.

  1. Why didn’t the Sabres challenge goalie interference on the first goal ?
    Trade Power & Cozens already.
Power got let off the hook on the gosl overturned by offsides. He clearly screen Reimer. He’s so scared of blocking shots.
Why wasn’t Quinn in there ?

    1. Power and Cozens are $15 million aav and should be ashamed of themselves. Film of Tage T’ should be required viewing of how to play.

  2. Shows you how stupid the organization is right now. Top talent gets scratched. Home Town general Manager and coach are clueless. Bring the Rochester team up at least they will play 60 minutes. Send a message towards the top ownership. You want fans in the seats act now. The fans deserve better. Enough is enough.
