BUFFALO – Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin suffered an upper-body injury early in the second period of Monday afternoon’s 5-3 win over the Florida Panthers and will likely miss Tuesday’s road game against the Montreal Canadiens, coach Lindy Ruff said.
Ruff said Dahlin is day to day and wouldn’t accompany the Sabres when they left to begin their three-game road trip. He could join the team later in the trip.
“They treat him better here,” Ruff said of the care the Sabres’ top defenseman will receive. “He doesn’t have to get on an airplane right now. Obviously, that probably rules him out for tomorrow.”
Ruff said Dahlin, who scored a power-play goal in the first period, left the game in KeyBank Center after injuring himself shooting the puck on another man advantage early in the second.
After the Swede, 26, shot the puck, he grabbed his lower back as he skated to the bench. He did not play after the 3:44 mark of the second period.
