Sabres’ Michael Kesselring out injured

COLUMBUS – For the third time this season, an injury will force Buffalo Sabres defenseman Michael Kesselring to miss action.

Kesselring, who suffered a lower-body injury late in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars, will sit out this afternoon’s game against the Blue Jackets.

Defenseman Jacob Bryson will replace Kesselring, who’s day to day, coach Lindy Ruff said.

Kesselring, 25, left the ice in pain and did not play after getting checked into the end boards with a little less than eight minutes left in the third period.

The newcomer has played just 16 games this season, compiling zero points, while also battling knee and ankle injuries.

The Sabres acquired him from the Utah Mammoth during the offseason.

In other news, Ruff said the Sabres will likely have more information Sunday on goalie Alex Lyon, who returned to Buffalo after suffering a lower-body injury late in Monday’s 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Lyon was the NHL’s hottest goalie, compiling a 7-0-0 record with a 2.22 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage over a torrid seven-game stretch.
