Buffalo Sabres winger Kyle Okposo left Thursday’s 4-3 shootout win in Ottawa with an upper-body injury after colliding with Senators winger Bobby Ryan.
“Upper-body injury, we’ll know more tomorrow,” Sabres coach Phil Housley replied to reporters when asked if Okposo entered concussion protocol following the second-period collision. “Just one of those freak things.”
Update: The Sabres announced this morning Okposo is out indefinitely with a concussion.
Okposo, 29, endured a harrowing concussion late last March that left him hospitalized in intensive care. He recovered in time for this season, although he started slowly.
Okposo has compiled 11 goals, 38 points and a minus-28 rating in 65 games.
