BUFFALO – Compiling 1.30 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage while backstopping the Sabres to three consecutive wins has earned goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen NHL Third Star honors for the week ending Sunday.
Luukkonen dazzled throughout the week, stopping 86 of the 90 shots he faced.
He made 37 saves in Tuesday’s 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators, tying his season high.
Overall this season, the Finn has registered a 6-4-1 mark with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 11 games.
Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck (three wins, 0.93 goals-against average, a .989 save percentage and two shutouts) and Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon (one goal and nine points) were named the first and second stars, respectively.
