Sabres add depth up front with another signing for Rochester

The Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday added depth up front, signing center Jake Leschyshyn to a one-year, two-way contract.

Leschyshyn, 26, will likely begin the upcoming season with the Rochester Americans.

He spent most of last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack, registering 13 goals, 24 points, 34 penalty minutes and minus-35 rating in 69 games for the New York Rangers’ AHL affiliate. He also recorded zero points in one outing with the Rangers.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pound Leschyshyn has compiled two goals, six points and 16 penalty minutes in 77 career NHL games with the Rangers and Vegas Golden Knights.

He has spent most of his six-year career in the AHL, compiling 50 goals, 104 points, 160 penalty minutes and a minus-43 rating in 271 contests.

Vegas drafted him in the second round in 2017, 62nd overall.

His father, Curtis, a former NHL defenseman, played 1,033 games over 16 seasons.
