As a rookie in 2019-20, former Buffalo Sabres winger Victor Olofsson usually skated at left wing alongside Jack Eichel and also shared the ice with him during power plays.
Olofsson reaped the benefits of playing with Eichel, as the playmaking center assisted on 15 of his 20 goals that season.
Now Olofsson, who struggled last season and wasn’t re-signed by Buffalo, has been reunited with Eichel.
Olofsson on Tuesday signed a one-year, $1.075 million contract with the Vegas Golden Knights.
It’s a low-risk, high-reward deal for Vegas. Yes, Olofsson, who turns 29 on July 18, just endured a tough season, getting scratched and scoring seven goals in 51 games. But he had scored at least 20 goals in each of his previous three full seasons. He registered a career-high 28 goals in 2022-23, when he fell out of the lineup late in the campaign.
The Swede, who possesses a dynamic shot and can wreak havoc on the power play, just finished a two-year, $9.5 million contract.
