BUFFALO – Right now, there’s no firm timeline for Josh Norris to return to the lineup. The oft-injured center participated in this morning’s pregame skate and plans to practice Sunday before the Sabres begin their two-game Florida road trip.
“Just keep evaluating and see where we’re at,” Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said this morning in KeyBank Center.
Ruff said Norris is day to day.
The Sabres have four games before the Olympic break begins, starting with tonight’s contest against the Montreal Canadiens.
Norris, who has missed the last eight games with an upper-body injury, doesn’t want to shut himself down until after the break.
“If you’re ready to go, you’re not just going to sit out,” he said. “So when I feel like I’m 100 percent, I’m going to play.”
Norris hasn’t played since Philadelphia’s Nick Seeler cross-checked him Jan. 14 in a 5-2 win over the Flyers.
“It just happened to catch me at the wrong point kind of thing,” Norris said.
In other injury news, defenseman Jacob Bryson, who has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury, also skated this morning.
Ruff believes Bryson will be available for Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers.
Bryson said he took a cross-check to the oblique area in his last appearance Jan. 22 in Montreal. He briefly stayed in the Sabres’ 4-2 win before leaving.
“Maybe it could worsen up again if something happens to it,” he said. “So probably play it safe and just take it day by day and see how I feel every day.”
In other news, Ruff said winger Jordan Greenway, who has been battling pain after undergoing two hernia surgeries, will be a game-time decision tonight.
Greenway has missed the last three games.
Meanwhile, goalie Alex Lyon, who has a franchise-record 10-game winning streak, is expected to start tonight.
