BUFFALO – Sabres center Josh Norris, who has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury, is now day to day, coach Lindy Ruff said.
“Josh is better,” Ruff said following Monday’s practice in LECOM Harborcenter. “In the training room there today and progressing.”
Ruff said the oft-injured Norris, who has played just 19 games this season, likely won’t return this week.
“I doubt it, unless he gets on the ice here pretty quick,” he said after the Sabres prepared for Tuesday’s road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. “And then … we’re gonna balance whether it’s the right idea with all that time coming off. So I think we’ll make sure we do the right thing in his case, that when you look at all that extra time, it might be the best.”
Meanwhile, Ruff said defenseman Jacob Bryson, who left Thursday’s 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens with an upper-body injury, is day to day.
“We got good news on him,” Ruff said. “So it will just be sort of a pain management thing where he can get back on the ice, it depends on how he feels.”
Ruff also said winger Justin Danforth, who broke his kneecap Oct. 15, is “progressing and could play following the Olympic break.
