Sabres’ Alex Lyon, Michael Kesselring progressing from injuries

BUFFALO – Sabres goalie Alex Lyon, who hasn’t played since suffering a lower-body injury late in last Monday’s 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues, is day to day, coach Lindy Ruff said.

“It doesn’t look like anything too major,” Ruff said following Monday’s practice in KeyBank Center.

Ruff said Lyon and defenseman Michael Kesselring, who left Wednesday’s 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars with a lower-body injury, are both “progressing” from their respective injuries.

Neither player practiced Monday.

Ruff said Kesselring, who has been sidelined twice this season, tweaked the ankle he injured Nov. 15.

“Kesselring saw the doctor again, so we’re going to hope to see him skate by probably the end of the week here,” Ruff said.

In other injury news, Ruff said center Tyson Kozak, who has missed the last seven games with an upper-body injury, is close to playing.

Meanwhile, Ruff said winger Justin Danforth, who broke his kneecap Oct. 15, skated on his own Monday.

“Just preliminary, get going again,” he said.
