The Buffalo Sabres have let go director of player development Adam Mair following his arraignment Thursday on felony charges for allegedly driving under the influence and crashing his car with children in it.
The Sabres placed Mair, 46, on administrative leave after being arrested Sept. 4 in Pittsford.
“Adam Mair is no longer employed as our Director of Player Development,” the team said in a statement. “We wish him well. We will evaluate the best fit for that role moving forward. In the interim, the current player development staff will continue to handle the responsibilities of their positions.”
Mair had served as director of player development since 2021-22. He also worked as an assistant coach with the Rochester Americans, Buffalo’s AHL affiliate, in 2020-21, after spending five seasons as one of the Sabres’ development coaches.
Mair played 615 NHL games over parts of 12 seasons. The former center spent seven seasons with the Sabres in the early 2000s.
