Will Sabres goalie Linus Ullmark start Thursday?

BUFFALO – Just three games into his career, Linus Ullmark’s strong play has some observers already wondering if the Swede, 22, could be the Sabres’ goalie of the future and present.

Right now, Sabres coach Dan Bylsma won’t let himself think about that. He wouldn’t even say if Ullmark will make his third consecutive start Thursday against Tampa Bay.

Given Ullmark has won two straight nods and has a 2.03 goals against average and a .930 save percentage overall, he will likely play when the Sabres try to win three straight games for the first time since December.

“If you get a chance to talk to this kid, he’s pretty calm and cool and laid back,” Bylsma said this afternoon following practice inside the First Niagara Center. “He doesn’t show a lot of pressure … given the situation. Even the game he (just) started, I just remarked how calm and collective he is in net for us.”

Check back later for a full story on Ullmark.

In other news, wingers Tyler Ennis and Jamie McGinn had maintenance days today. Bylsma expects them to practice Wednesday. He also said defenseman Zach Bogosian, out since early in training camp, has ramped up his workload when he skates by himself.

  1. Yes, I think well of the Sabres here in Jamestown, NY. I believe we are having a good start to something building under the watchful eye of our General Manager Tim Murray. Bylsma looks very favorable in his charge. It is still a wait and see, game by game for impitous, and for fan base. Would you agree?
