Sabres’ Lindy Ruff on Ryan Miller’s passion: ‘We need more of it’

BUFFALO – Lindy Ruff said this morning he hadn’t read Ryan Miller’s angry comments after the Sabres blew a third-period lead Sunday and lost 4-3 to Pittsburgh.

The coach, however, has heard about how a disgusted Miller cursed three times during his brief chat with the media. He loves the passion his franchise goalie showcased.

“When you start holding yourself accountable inside the room, you’ve almost got your team in the right place,” Ruff said inside the First Niagara Center after the Sabres prepared for tonight’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. “A room without confrontation, a room without holding each other accountable, you’ve got a lot of places to hide.

“I didn’t read what he said. I heard he was passionate. I think it’s great. I think we need more of it. I think we need more guys to say, ‘It wasn’t good enough’ inside the room, and when you get that, you got a powerful group.”
