Sabres’ Marcus Foligno likely out against Bruins; Update: Dan Catenacci recalled

BUFFALO – Sabres winger Marcus Foligno suffered a lower-body injury during his last shift in Thursday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins and will likely miss Saturday’s rematch in Boston, coach Dan Bylsma said.

Foligno’s day-to-day, Bylsma said this afternoon following the Sabres’ optional practice inside HarborCenter.

“I don’t anticipate it will be week-to-week,” he said.

The Sabres will recall a forward from the Rochester Americans, Bylsma said. He wouldn’t reveal which one.

Update: The Sabres have made a surprising recall, summoning forward Dan Catenacci, 22, for the first time. Catenacci has seven goals and 16 points in 36 games for the Amerks, including two goals and seven points in the last seven contests. The 2011 third-round pick is in his third AHL season.

Foligno has played the last two games with center Jack Eichel and Zemgus Girgensons.

In other news, winger Tyler Ennis, out since Dec. 30 with what is believed to be a concussion, skated on his own this afternoon. Ennis “still can’t go all out,” Bylsma said.

“He’s gone through some progression,” he said.

Ennis also skated Thursday, Bylsma said.
