Sabres change up top lines

BUFFALO – When you rank last in the NHL in goals and are coming off your 12th one-goal outing this season, line changes are expected.

So Sabres coach Dan Bylsma switched the right wingers on his top two lines today, putting Kyle Okposo beside center Jack Eichel and Evander Kane and Sam Reinhart with center Ryan O’Reilly and William Carrier.

“A little shakeup in the line combinations,” Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said inside HarborCenter.

Expect to see the new lines for Tuesday’s home tilt against Los Angeles.

O’Reilly and Reinhart spent a chunk of last season together.

“If you’re not generating enough offense, something’s got to change,” O’Reilly said. “You look at our top six right now, all those guys can play together, and it’s nice.

“Playing with Sam last year, (he) definitely generated a lot of offense. He’s a guy who’s easy to play with. Him and Okie are two very smart players.

Reinhart has zero goals and two assists in his last five games.

In injury news, defenseman Zach Bogosian, out the last 18 games with a knee injury, skated on his own today. Bogosian is ramping up his workouts, although he still has no timetable for a return, Bylsma said.

Winger Tyler Ennis, meanwhile, out the last 15 games after having groin surgery, is progressing and could start skating on his own soon, Bylsma said.

Defenseman Taylor Fedun, out the last three games with a knee injury, could start skating later this week, Bylsma said.
