Sabres’ Alex Tuch to be game-time decision against Panthers

BUFFALO – Sabres winger Alex Tuch, who left Sunday afternoon’s game injured after crashing head first into the left goalpost, said he will be a game-time decision for tonight’s contest against the Florida Panthers.

Tuch, 25, participated in the Sabres’ optional skate this morning inside KeyBank Center.

Update: Tuch is officially in the lineup.

“Took a pretty nasty spill yesterday, was seen our team docs and our training staff,” Tuch said this afternoon of his tumble late in the Sabres’ 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. “I thought they all did a really excellent job, take every precaution. Went through and was cleared of not having a concussion, which was our first concern. …

“Everyone saw that I decided to go neck first into the post. The scans can back good and positive, so looking forward to as long as everything is looking good for tonight, going ahead and playing tonight. … I love to put on that sweater, so it would take a little bit more to take me out of the game tonight, I think.”

Stay tuned for more updates. Sabres coach Don Granato is scheduled to address the media before the game.

  1. Very happy to see Tuch wasn’t seriously injured. Unfortunately the Sabres are experiencing difficulties scoring and defending, they were manhandled by the Panthers. Another big learning experience. You hope for better, but Sam Reinhart playing on Florida’s third line shows how formidable and deep in talent the Panthers are. Rebuilds are never easy. Playing the Panthers in the second game of back to back games is not a recipe for success either.
