Reports: Sabres waive Seth Griffith after 18 games

BUFFALO – The Sabres waived Seth Griffith today, according to multiple reports, possibly ending the winger’s 18-game career with the club.

Following a strong training camp in which he earned an NHL roster spot, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound Griffith mustered two goals and three points.

Griffith was a healthy scratch four the last seven games before playing in Saturday’s 3-0 loss in Montreal.

If Griffith clears, the Sabres could assign him to the Rochester Americans. Griffith, 24, has been a dynamic AHL player, compiling 66 goals and 202 points in 203 career games.

Of course, Griffith could get claimed. After Boston waived him early last season, Toronto claimed him and later nabbed him again after Florida grabbed him and waived him.

Griffith has eight goals and 19 points in 76 career NHL contests.
