New ‘Sabres Standby’ program will offer more tickets to public

BUFFALO – Beginning with Friday’s game against Boston, fans can purchase last-minute tickets to Sabres contests at the First Niagara Center through the new “Sabres Standby” program, the team announced today.

Fans can sign up to be part of a queue of potential ticket-buyers at sabres.com/standby starting at 7 p.m. tonight and be eligible to purchase from a limited quantity of tickets.

The NHL’s new collective bargaining agreement requires each team to reserve an increased number of tickets for players, referees and league officials. The unused tickets become available for purchase on game day.

Fans can only sign up 48 hours prior to each home game by providing verified contact information, first and second option seating locations, desired price range and number of tickets requested. Following enrollment, the team will send a message telling fans when they’ll be contacted and their potential ticket options.

Those enrolled in the program will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis to complete their order after ticket holds are lifted. They’ll have a 30-minute window to accept or reject the ticket order. Tickets for home games starting at 7 p.m. should be released by 1 p.m.

A customer service representative and a phone line will be available to help fans.
