Sabres trim training camp roster, send six players to Amerks

BUFFALO – Top goalie prospect Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was among six players the Sabres sent to the Rochester Americans this morning.

The Sabres also assigned forwards Matej Pekar, Ryan MacInnis, Sean Malone and Linus Weissbach and defenseman Oskari Laaksonen to their AHL affiliate.

The Amerks open training camp today. The Sabres, meanwhile, play a road preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

J-J Peterka, Jack Quinn and Brett Murray – three of the Sabres’ top forward prospects – are still with the team and could play tonight. Peterka, 19, scored a nifty goal in Monday’s 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Luukkonen also played Monday, making 25 saves.

The Sabres have 32 healthy players left in camp.

Update: After this morning’s practice, the Sabres waived defenseman Ethan Prow. Malone and MacInnis must also clear waivers.

  1. Sabres need to split up Dahlin and Joki
    They are both offensive minded.
Put each with Hagg or Miller
like Ottawa did for Karlsson with Methot
