Reports: Sabres’ Kyle Okposo hospitalized in intensive care

BUFFALO – Sabres winger Kyle Okposo is hospitalized and in intensive care at Buffalo General Hospital, according to two reports.

Okposo, 28, is in the Neuro Surgical ICU, according to WGR. The Buffalo News also confirmed the report.

Prior to Wednesday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said he was “very concerned” about Okposo, who has undergone testing.

“He’s been dealing with that, and it’s a difficult thing for him to be dealing with right now,” Bylsma said.

Neuro ICU “cares for patients with all types of neurosurgical and neurological injuries, including stroke, brain hemorrhage, trauma and tumors,” according to UCLA Neurosurgery.

The Sabres released the following statement Wednesday night: “Kyle continues to be under the care of our doctors as he deals with symptoms from an illness. Out of respect to Kyle and his family, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Okposo has missed the last four games. He last played in a 4-2 win against Florida on March 27.
