Sabres recall rookies Johan Larsson and Rasmus Ristolainen from Amerks

With winger Torrey Mitchell and defenseman Tyler Myers questionable for Thursday’s game in Nashville, the Buffalo Sabres have recalled rookies Johan Larsson and Rasmus Ristolainen from Rochester, according to WHTK’s Rob Sanderson.

UPDATE: The Sabres have officially recalled Larsson and Ristolainen on an emergency basis.

Both played in the Americans’ 3-1 loss to Milwaukee tonight.

Larsson, and Swedish forward, has 15 goals and 39 points in 45 AHL games and one assist in 21 NHL contests.

Ristolainen just returned from a five-game NHL recall. The Finnish defenseman has six goals and 18 points in the 31 AHL games and one goal in 24 NHL appearances.

  1. Looks like this avalanche of injuries will mean that BOTH Sabres and Amerks will miss the playoffs this year. Really sad since the kids had a real strong opportunity to bring some positive news to this sorry franchise this year. Frustrating.
