Dylan Cozens enjoyed a standout World Junior Championship for Team Canada.

Prospects Dylan Cozens, Jack Quinn could practice with Sabres on Friday

Coach Ralph Krueger said this afternoon that prospects Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn, both of whom represented Team Canada at the World Junior Championship, could join the Sabres’ second practice group Friday.

Cozens and Quinn have been quarantining in a hotel since arriving from Edmonton following Canada’s loss 2-0 loss to Team USA in Tuesday’s gold medal game. They took a private plane to Buffalo, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

“I hope they’re enjoying their hotel room,” Krueger said on a Zoom call. “I haven’t seen them live, because of the respect we have for the quarantine isolation. I’m pretty confident you’re going to see them tomorrow.”

Krueger said the 19-year-olds must pass testing and other medicals before they can join training camp at KeyBank Center.

Cozens, a center the Sabres drafted seventh overall in 2019, scored a tournament-high eight goals and added eight assists in seven games. Meanwhile, Quinn, a winger they selected seventh overall in October, registered one goal and five points.

The Sabres could shift Cozens, who’s expected to compete for a roster spot, to wing.
