BUFFALO – After the Vancouver Canucks named his sister, Cammi, an assistant general manager, Sabres coach Don Granato said he read some quotes “that were kind of funny and sad all in one.”

“She’s worked hard,” Granato said following Friday’s practice at LECOM Harborcenter. “She’s endured a lot. She’s earned her way up physically, emotionally, everything.”

Sabres receive good news about Casey Mittelstadt’s health

BUFFALO – Sabres coach Don Granato acknowledged that, yes, he was nervous about Casey Mittelstadt’s health. After undergoing surgery to repair an upper-body injury, the center left the lineup shortly into his second game back.

Considering the chaos the Buffalo Sabres endured over a wild 36 hours, the end result, a weekend split capped by Sunday’s 4-1 road loss to the Colorado Avalanche, wasn’t too bad.
