Amerks sign former KHL goal leader Stevie Moses

The Rochester Americans have added a top European league scorer, signing Stevie Moses to a one-year AHL contract, the team announced today.

Moses, 27, scored a KHL-record 36 goals in 60 games with Jokerit Helsinki in 2014-15, a breakout season that earned the Massachusetts native a one-year, $1 million contract from the Nashville Predators. Moses, however, never played for the club and was placed on unconditional waivers after only 16 AHL appearances.

Moses returned to the KHL midseason in 2015-16, this time with St. Petersburg SKA.

The undrafted University of New Hampshire product had three goals and 10 points in 24 games with St. Petersburg last season. Overall, he has 43 goals and 83 points in 105 KHL contests. He also played two seasons with Jokerit when the team participated in a different league, SM-liiga.

Moses, who could attend Buffalo Sabres training camp, has four goals and nine points in 24 career AHL games with the Milwaukee Admirals and Connecticut Whale. He compiled 47 goals and 98 points in 148 games over four seasons with New Hampshire.

Sergei Mozyakin broke Moses’ KHL record last season, scoring 48 goals for Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
